Hi Stan,

I thought that all of the .75oz nylons that Steve carries, North, Bainbridge, Contender, Challenge all designed for spinnakers?

I have personally had to put a number of my kites away wet made with the above materials and have never had a problem. I was flying my Double Parasled at the beach on day. There was an offshore wind and while I wasn't looking my kite decided to go for a swim. It was quite a while before I noticed it was missing and it was happily getting pounded by the waves. I retreived it, flew it for a few minutes to get a lot of the water out and then put it away. No running of colos, no stretching it, no strange smells Shocked ... seemed to have recovered fine.

IIRC, Dick Barnes uses Chiacara in his Pizazz kites.

If you want Icarex you can get it at Hang-em High Fabrics, but I think they are closed for the holidays....

I would love to see Icarex PC for a lower price but there are a lot of layers in the distribution chain.

I wonder if Steve would be able to get it direct from the Manufacturer for a good price to pass the savings on to us???????

Bill,
Of course you're right that all that fabric is spinnaker cloth.

I do wonder if Steve could connect with Texlon for poly. Some of the builders here order it directly from them, and the prices are lower than Icarex. IIRC, Prism and Revolution use Texlon's polyester, and nobody seems to complain! Wink
Maybe fliers are conditioned to assume it's Icarex.

Hang-em High's open for business again AFAIK.

As Harold said, Hang-em High is a popular spot for getting Icarex and Toray polyester, primarily for building stunt kites. Kite Studio (this site) is the best place I know of for a first-class selection of nylon fabrics from a number of different manufacturers. Plus, there's always a good selection of B, C, and D grade fabric if you don't need or want to spend the money on firsts. Steve also has occasional deals on polyester fabric.

Texlon sells their polyester fabric directly. I like their fabric for my kites (it's essentially the same as Toray polyester), but the color selection is limited and there are minimum order requirements.
