G'day all.
So, as the weather turns ugly (for those of us who don't live in Palm tree laden areas that is), we all move our focus to the cutting tables. Well, even more so anyways.
What's your plans for this winter?
Here's mine:
Complete 'The Beast Within' (this kite still scares me. And I don't mean the graphic, but that too )
Double the size of Crazy Eddy (and I'm already 1/3 of the way there )
A 5m Junkie. (Quad line, dual skinned traction kite)
An FF04A modified. Likley 4 X 3.2 m
OR
A Manta Ray from Maxwell Edens book.
(leaning towads the FF04A mod)
An arch train. This Arch Train though will be using Al Hargus's plans and stuff. But, it will be the kind that flies as an arch, then gets cut in half to fly as two trains.
A few more messengers and lifters and things to drop from them.
A second of either the FF04a or Manta Ray.
Interestingly enough, I'm not even thinking of building a dual line sport kite. Hmmm, odd that
Cheers, and happy building

This really isn't my 'winter' list - it's my 'catch up from being on the road for the last 6 months' list.
Finish my BIG BAG. I need to put the pockets on - after I devise a way to contract/expand the length of the bag.
Build a DT-box delta.
I still have a large Rok to build - a few years ago I planned on painting it to look like a stained glass window - know I know how I should do it.
Build a Virus (dual line). I have the pattern cut out.
Make a vented RYV. I was planning on making it this week while I was home, but I had to fly to MA for a funeral.
Build the #54 Star facet - I have the kit...
I'll probably add a couple new fighters to my 'quiver'.

We don't live in a "Palm Tree laden area", we visit them. We leave for Florida on Christmas afternoon, stay about a month, return home for a couple weeks and then head for Arizona for a few more weeks. We have children and grand-children in New Jersey, Florida and Arizona.
While we are in Florida we will be staying in Treasure Island for a week during which time we will attend the Kite Festival there on the 15th and 16th of January and while we are in Arizona we will do kid's workshops in the school where my daughter-in-law teaches. Last year we did five classes of 125 kids each, 125 kites in 5 hours and then they all went out and flew them at one time. Last year on the way home from Florida we stopped in Virginia and attended the RAF workshop, making a crossdeck with Cliff Quinn. This year we take kites but not sewing stuff.
Another interesting fact is how I carried our kites on the plane to Arizona. I wanted them in something that would not crush. We only took a few and I packed them in a hard gun case and secured it closed with cable ties. It was never opened and I was never questioned when checking it or carrying it around the airport. |

Ok The Winter list...
- Finish the double star. All pieces are aither drawn or cut.
- Finish my second Virus
- 100 sq ft Jordan Air Form with tube tails
- a full size Mock Form
- A 6ft della porta
- a decent bag/winder for my arch
- new bags for all my kites (fliptops)
- a few angel kites
- a few piece dove kites
- the star facet workshop
- Pyro Delta
I don't imagine I will get all of that done but I suspect the first 4 or 5.
Cheers,
Bill |

Lets see...what to build this winter...
Some:
Swallow kites
A train per Al H's plans...I'm thinking 50 kites to start with
Gotta get my act in gear and send Progcraft a sail for his Crazy Eddy extension
Maybe one of the tiny dual line kites on Stan's page
Some fighters
Who knows what else now that I have a kite table again.... |

Even though I have big palm trees in my yard (that need trimming) I have an 5 meter NPW9b started, and plan to make a dozen fighters, including some Gerhard Zitzman Zorros and Bateman copies. Also want to tune and rebridle some old kites that need help, like my Deka quads and yet another bridle for my Orange. I have plans sketched for a mahogany plywood dualie and want to make a 16 inch Rev stack.
It does get dark and drizzly here, and we sometimes wear long pants. |

I owe people Katanas. So they get done first.
Finish my partially completed Peter Lynn Pilot.
Start on a larger Pilot to lift...
Make a KAP rig, probably one of Brooks Leffler's kits.
Finish and put into production the Wakuzashi (6 foot stunter).
Finish and put into production the Tachi (8 foot stunter).
Finish my Burrito Bag Done Right. I like the Burrito Bag, but it is not long enough for most of my kites.
Build a box for fighter kites with room for reels and repair materials and tools. _________________ Gentle breezes...
