Try looking here: http://www.kites.tug.com/goodwinds.html

Or here: http://www.sportkite.com/applique.html

Or here: http://www.sportkite.com/applique.html

You should be able to pick up some tips and tricks there. Very Happy

I'm back! I just remembered that there was a great applique article in one of the KITE magazine editions. Here is a link to that article.

http://2kiters.home.comcast.net/tips/applique.htm

Be sure to take a look around their site. Lots of good stuff there! Dancing

Print Kai's site as it used to go down for long periods of time........

I was toying around with putting up a set of instructions for this but it is on my long list of things to do......

If you get the chance attend a workshop where they teach this. I learnd from Jose Sainz, one of the originators of this technique....along with Randy Tom....

iceum, where are you located? Jose Sainz will be teaching another workshop to the NYKE (New York Kite Enthusiuasts) in January.... Jose is from California and has ALOT to share. His workshop is ALWAYS highly reccomended, especially if you want to learn about applique. So when he is in your area, put his class on your "must-attend" list.

He will be teaching THIS class (the same workshop he did for the Keystone Kites back in August '04
)

The link tha I provided is from my site. Kai gave me perission to to copy his site a while back so unless something happens to my ISP http://www.thedurants.net/kites/kai/kites.html will get you Kai's kite site and http://www.thedurants.net/kites/kai/applique.html will get Kai's applique workshop.

There are links to non kiting stuff on these pages that I plan to delete someday.

I gave a basic applique class on the 7/11/04 at the NEKF make it day my advise to all was :- Pratice with any scrap material draw shapes on Ripstop with a pencil attach another colour to the back and sew around the line trim & cut out. No rules no mystry just pratice. Laughing I hope you have a go it is very rewarding and much easer than the finished result may suggest.
