Cliff ....GrantL and anyone else planining to come here for the Dieppe International Kite Festival 2005 will not regret it ! it will be a grand party for sure ! I have also been assured that we will do a nite fly in wich a DS mass assention will take place ! now for those that have not been here beefore our nite fly is also done using numerous spot lites that will follow the kites in their flights ! So start thinking now about illuminating your double star! it will be a super spectacle for sure ! _________________ Bernie

I'm working on the wife for Dieppe right now, she's excited about going to Canada (we've never been), even if it is for a kite festival! Bernie, you'll have to hook me up with tourist stuff around there to keep the girls occupied.
If we make it, that'll be one more double star to add to the mix! _________________ Marc

Lets start with this:

I started praying for the weather conditions to be perfect for the DS at the night fly. _________________ Smarties

A universe of kites will fill the skies over Dieppe this summer.
Kite enthusiasts from around the globe will be brought together and thousands of people will get to see kite building worshops, rokkaku challenges, a flight of acrobatic kites and a variety fo new activities for this year's event. Including participants from aross Canada ,spectators will also get to see higlights from a mutitude of kite flyers from several countries that have already confirmed for the popular event.
The organixing committee president , Jake LeBlanc, is proud of the activities that will be taking place this summer. "The best kite flyers in the world will have a mutitude of kites in all shapes and sizes. They will be very excited to meet young and young at heart to teach them the art of kiting and the building of these wonderful kites". _________________ Bernie

Grant,
Make sure that you follow the signs for Shediac and not Sheridac. You may not end up at the same place.
For those of you like Grant who may want to visit around before or after the festival, you may want to search this site:
http://www.tourismnewbrunswick.ca/
http://www.shediac.org/en/hall.html
If you plan to camp of find a cabin, do it asap as most of them are reserved during this time of the year.
The main things that comes to my mind right now are (make a search on the net for more details):
- Parlee Beach (Shediac) 20 minutes from Dieppe. There are also other little beaches around there. Shediac is the world's capital of lobster.
- Kouchibouguac National Park with beautiful beach, camp ground, lot of trails in the forest, kayak,.... About 1hour (60miles on highway) from Dieppe going North.
- Fundy National Park with kayak, camp grounds, canoe, lots of trails in the forest, largest tide in the world, golf, big lobsters, etc,.... About an 1h30 (50miles) from Dieppe going South-West.
- Pays de la Sagouine in Bouctouche - outdoor theatre, souvenirs, .. About 45 minutes from Dieppe, going North.
- Acadian Historic Village north of Caraquet about 3hours from Dieppe going North where you can see the Acadian history.
- Kings Landing Historical Settlement. I think it is in the Fredericton area.
Also, August 15 is the Acadian Festival everywhere where there are Acadians including Dieppe where there are a lot of activities like music show outside, a big "tintamarre" where everybody is making all the noise they can around 5h00pm to 6h00pm on that day. _________________ Smarties

I just want to pitch my little tent at the festival field. Will that be ok? Backpacking is my thing. I'd rather do that then hotel. Plus, then I can satisfy my 3 a.m. flying urges

The kite field will be locked and guarded during the night but there are camp grounds around here too. Let me find some info on that. _________________ Smarties
