Hi All,
I have just got some Ripstop from a local fabric shop and it is a bit different to usual Ripstop nylon. Instead of the usual single grid, there is a double grid like this:
The material is also relatively heavily coated. I was wondering if anyone has seen this before, or has any more information about it???

The Ripstop fibers are layed out in however the mill designs them.
Now if this fabric is VERY lightweight (less than 3/4 Oz RSN) and quite stiff and the fibers are on a 1CM spacing, and if you can get it cheep, we may have to talk...
Is it on a roll or bolt???
If so what does it say???
How much was it???
How wide is it???? _________________ VR/

Hi,
I just picked up 100m of white with the aim of making a large version of my skull (see my album), which is nearly perfected in a small version.
On the roll there is a sticker that just says 'coating applications' with some code numbers. It has a coating on one side, and is shiny on the other. The squares are 5mm square, and the individual lines are about 1.5mm apart. The material is 153cm wide.
I think I have mentioned this store in previous posts - it just gets odd rolls in which you have to be lucky to get. Any good colours are usually snapped up very quickly (as well as most of the bad colours!).
I will be using most of the material on the skull and will keep the rest for other winter projects - expect lots of white kites at the UK festivals next summer!!

The reason I asked about the Ripstop fiber patterns is they are kinda like a trade mark. Each mill has a pattern they use.
The only other fabric I know of that has a double rip stop pattern is Icarex PC which is a polyester fabric with a Polycarbonate coating (it is my personal favorite fabric to build light weight kites from.) But it is expensive here in america as it is made in Japan, Shipped to europe, then to a distributor here in the US and then to the retailer.....
But it's Ripstop fibers are on a 1cm pattern.... _________________ VR/
