A sort of interesting sewing machine story....
My backup machine backed up and died. I like to have a working back up machine for various reasons. I did not want to take this one in for repair, as it was a $5 garage sale beater, and not all that great, really.
Anyway, I kept worrying that my Pfaff 1471 would possiblably leave me stranded, so I had been looking for a Pfaff 1222 for a replacement. Shopped eBay, but those things go for 3-5 hundred bucks. Finally I came across a 1211 which is a cabinet machine with the same features as the 1222, so I bid and suprisingly I won!
Two days later my 1471 quit. I took it to the shop for repair, and while there I found a trade in Pfaff 1371. An early version of my machine! I have seen them going for 6-8 hundred on eBay and this one was priced at $299. So I am money poor, but seweing machine rich. I may have to sell the 1211...... I like to sew a lot of kites, but I don't see how I can keep 3 machines busy. _________________

I've been kinda wanting a second machine too. I'd like to have a back-up machine and it'd be nice to have another one for sewing (less thread changes).

Hmmm. Let's see. I have Pfaff 1222, 1229, 1471, 130 (2), 132, Singer Featherweight (2), a bunch of treadles and quite a few more. These built up over quite a few years, as every time a say a good buy at a garage or estate sale, I would buy it. I finally stopped myself when it was even obvious to me that I was getting silly.

Once a collector always a collector... right Dave
BTW the presentation that Dave gave on Kite Collectables was great, despite the technical difficulties. Good Job Dave! _________________ Robkite
