STEVE:

Cathy and I are going to build Jose's kite. The question I have is:

WILL YOU HAVE PARTS KITS THERE?

If not, can you assist us in getting the necessary parts (I have Ripstop) on order?

Much obliged.

Well, we had great fun at the Keystone Kiters retreat this past weekend. Everyone who attended left with a cool kite. I'll be looking for them in the air at upcoming events!

Yes it was a wonderful weekend and Jose is a great presenter. I think every participant learned a thing or two about kite design and applique. If you ever get a chance to attend one of his workshops, I highly recommend it.

Congrats to all the successfull kitebuilders too! It always amazes me how the different colors and graphics change the overall same design.

And thanks to the Keystone Kiters for arraging this workshop. Wink Great food too!

The photos from this project are great! Thanks for sharing.

It reminded me of an experimental project I did a couple of years ago. It took me quite a while to find the picture. I have hundreds of them on my computer with the names something like.... DSCF0047

I had several prototypes of a lil Genki kite which I presented in several classes. I began to wonder how to make changes in the genki and have entirely new kites.

About a year later and this is the original prototype which was entirely black. I then put the enlogated diamond kite in the center of the lil genki. The kite is nearly 4 ft tall and 4 ft wide. I used 3/16" wooden spars and 1/8" wooden battens. The top part and bottom part of the Genki were quite floppy and I put fiberglass spreaders there to tighten things up. The one on the bottom of the genki part is not installed in this photo. Actually, I lost the bottom one.

The graphics were just tossed on to break up all the pink area. There should be some on the wings, too. However, this is just a test bed, no need to go with all the extra work. They are quite crooked, but that does not affect the flight, which is great. The kite requires a fuzzy tail for stability, but that looks great.

Notice the decal on my kitemobile, just above the kite. One way to let people know it is my kitemobile. Laughing

My kite is nothing as great as the ones in the group photo, but just thought I would share. Anyway, here is the photo of my "creation". Wink
