The festival will be at Grayland Beach just about 3 or 4 miles south of Westport Washington. look for the signs.

There will be an AKA sanctioned sport kite competition, Teddy Bear drops, 3 Mass ascensions, People choice awards, and a Handcrafted Kite Competition (which I will be running), a potluck on Saturday Night (check the Sales Booth for location of the potluck bring side dishes the Club provides entree').

I hope to see you many of you on the Beach.

And I forgot to mention that the Windriders invited Guests this year are Deb Cooley and Ken Tumania from Lincoln City Oregon.

Do we know what the kites for the mass ascensions are yet?

Westport is one of my favorites!
A great SLK display, sport kite comp, great food, great people, and a great beach.

I'm going to be pretty busy at this one. Going to enter my first kitemaking competition, fly in EIB and EIP, and try to make all the mass ascensions!

Really looking forward to it!

I don't run the mass ascension, but I know that the pins are the same design as last year so they should be the same kites as last year, but I'm not sure of the flying order.

Also If you find that you have a conflict with hand crafted comp and the sport kite flights let me know and I will try and find a surogate flyer for you. Maybe me if I have enough jufges that I can just run the event without judging.

see you on the beach.

Sorry, I didn't get back to you before the Competition, I left for the beach on Thursday morning, so I could do some kite flying before the festival. once the festival starts I don't get many opportunities to fly during the festival. The price of being a worker bee. I encourage you to come to Long Beach on Thursday to compete there with your project. WSIKF breaks the kite makers into novice, experienced and masters so you would be competeing against people of similar experience.

Also We use Pictures of the kitemakers with their kites for the first place trophies. I will post pictures of the winners soon.

Rob.....Thanks for the reply, even though it was a little late. I spoke to Herb at Mainframe and he said you must have gone to the beach already if you didn't reply. How was the kite making competition? Any pictures to post?

A question about Long Beach....I entered last years kite making contest for the first time as a novice or lowest category, and won a 1st in Roks and 2nd in deltas (only a couple people in each category). Can I enter again this year (with different kites) in novice, or must I get bumped up to the next level?

Thanks,

I'm not sure at this point, I heard that the set of questions that they have to determine your experience level is being updated. I'm not sure who would do the updating but Al Councilman and Robin Haas run the event at Long Beach. I just run the laptop with the scoring spread sheet for that event.
