G'day.
So, I decided that I need a way to make bigger circles. Here's what I did.
Metel rulers have a hole in one end. This hole fits nicely over a 1/8" dowel. So, I drilled a hole in my table, near the edge but centered. The hole is just big enough for a 1/8" dowel. Now I can slip a dowel into the hole whenever I want and just hook my metal ruler over it.
Then, I took a plastic clothes hanger. The kind I have have a resivoir of sorts on the back side of the pad. This gave me an idea. I then pulled the pencil holder out of a the compass (from a school geometry kit).
I filled up the resivoir on the clothes hanger with 12 minute epoxy then balanced the pencil holder in the epoxy and let it dry:
After letting it sit all night, I can just clip it to my ruler and draw any arc I want to. It's cool. Works well.

I just realized I can turn that into a beam compass just by pulling out the pointy part of the same compass and gluing that to another coat hanger clamp. Viola, instant cheap beam compass.

Thanks DM.
I like your idea too. Simple, cheap, easy, and disposable even . I think I might build another one like you describe. Thanks
