fyi:

I have a 9 foot (108") Genki in the store by Kevin Shannon.

Horizontal: RLG2400
Vertical: RLG1880
Diagonal: RSG125

This is an award winning kite... Great vertical flight - a real neck breaker.

no, I have had the kite on the back bench for a while now, even though I have the repai materials in hand. I think I will try to get it working, maybe for memorial day. I am going the route of triple thick joints. Three spars already have internal Ferrels on them, all I need to do is epoxy on the external epoxy tubing I got to use for the externals, and I should have an awsome kite. I will keep you posted.

thanks,
chris

Horizontal spar repaires and this kite finally went for it's maiden flight this afternoon. I needed to tweek the bridle a bit, but it went up smoothly after that. The wind was a little shifty around 6-7 MPH, But the kite gained altitude gracefully, and flew at an extremely high angle, it went up and blocked the sun and just parked there. I decided to put the 100' tail I made for it on, so I brought it down. Here is where I noticed an annoying habbit, first as I was walking it down it kept trying to overfly me and the glide, crash down, and then as I thought I had that under control( Just walk it down slower) the kite shifted to the side, turned 90 degrees and fell, it was only about 15 feet off the ground at this point, but it was still worrying. Does any one have any similar experiences with genkis? BTW I had very little bow set into the sail, as it seemed to be bowing enough on it's own, Do you think this is a possible cause of these wierd characteristics? Any how i put the tail on and sent it back up, and again it just parked, even more solid than before, I only had it up for around 30 min before another storm started to move in so I took it down. This time with the tail the only problem was the same tendency noted earlier. It was still overflying me back behind me and then it would try to drop.
What do you think? I took a few pics, I will download them and resize and upload them to the forum as soon as possible to get some more feedback. Thanks in advance,

chris Very Happy
