The final date isn't set yet but the Suburban Atlanta Kite Enthusiasts (SAKE) will be helping out with Kites Over North Georgia - a fun fly at the top of Georgia's highest peak. Should be one of the last two Saturdays in June. The event will be primarily a fun fly with kite making for kids. There may also be some demos and a fighter tangle or two.

I'll post more info as it comes available.

Steve,

I live in North Georgia but have never heard of this event. Is it a first time event and is it on the AKA calendar? I haven't checked in a while.

Tell me more. I was not aware there was a place to fly kites at the top of Brasstown Bald. What type of flying will be taking place? Single line, Dual line, etc.

Also, what other events is SAKE aware of. Actually I thought SAKE was no longer active. Emails have gone unanswered though I do see Harlan at the kite comps in the SE.

**Its a first-time event. Based on what Harlan tells me the USFS is putting it on wiht some help from SAKE

**Don't know a whole lot myself. I'm pretty sure its in in the parking lot as room is very limited up at he tower. There will be kite making for kids but beyond that I don't really know. Would imagine there will be some single line stuff up. Can't say for sure how much room there will be - the parking lot can be split into two or three sections prety easily but how mych flying room there is depends largely on how much parking room is needed. I wouldn't be surprised to see the north half of the lot reserved for parking and the south half for flying....

**There's a small group still active. They do a small fun fly at Centennial Park here in Atlanta, another fly at the beach in SC (forget which beach), they do something at the Asian Cultural fest here in town and at the Japan Fest at Stone Mountain. Not sure what else. Harlan has started a mailing list for interested folks in the area - best thing to do is contact him direct and get on his mailing list...

I'll post things here from time to time as well...

Randy
