Sadly after a successful run of ten years we have to skip a year due to lack of sponsorship. However, some sponsors have already signed up for next year so please take note of what we offer and come and see us in 2005!

Hey all from the southern tip of Africa!
Announcing the 11th Cape Town International kite Festival taking place on September 18-19, 2004 in South Africa. But that's not all, Last year for the first time we laid on a spectaular pre-festival week of flying, sight-seeing and entertainment. It was such a success with the visiting kiters from Holland, France, Germany and UK we are doing it again this year.
Just think of flying your kites on Robben island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned), Table Mountain, Cape Point, Khayelitsha township and other world-famous landmarks, as well as taking in our cosmopolitan night life and sights.
The CT Kitefest is a project of the Cape Mental Health Society, a non-profit organisation catering to the mentally challenged around Cape Town. Last year we were in over 30 publications, radio shows and television inserts. About 23 000 people attended the festival.
This year we have again put together a full programme (details to follow) and we'll pick you up from the airport, fetch and carry you and expose you to great African hospitality for the week, culminating in the two days of the festival itself. Our travel agent will gladly assist you to add on safaris, great white shark-diving, or anything else you want! Cape Town is also one of the world's top kitesurfing and paragliding spots so you can indulge those sports before or after the kitefest as well. Contact me for info and local contacts.
Full details of the pre-festival programme are to be posted on our website as they are finalised, but budget now for a price of R 3 500 (that's South African Rand) which today you will get at R6.75 to the US Dollar. Of course - that's flights to SA excluded! What's included for the pre-fest week and festival weekend is accommodation in local guesthouses, all transport to and from flying events and on sightseeing tours, some meals, some excursions, refreshments and food at the festival, entry to and a sumptious meal at our famous kite auction. You will be accompanied by a qualified Cape Town Tourism guide on your travels around our beautiful peninsula, and local kiters will host you at all flying events. Once all sponsorships are in we'll see what else we can do.
So far, apart from our own accomplished kiters and kitemakers, expect to see Ann harris with her entire family of inflatables, David and Susan Gomberg with a full tour group from US, and some others from around Europe and India. To get some reviews and references chat to previous visitors Pierre Fabre of France, the Valckes of Belgium, Peter Lynn and many others, or go to http://www.kitefest.co.za/gallery.htm
To find out more about Cape Town go to www.cape-town.org
Cheers for now
